FROM ARNOLD’S GIRLY-BOYS TO HEL

The Old Norse word hel was derived from the earlier halja, meaning “place of concealment,” which, by conglomerate extension, included the grave or the underworld.
The Norse “ruse peoples” conceived of Hel as a place of dense fog and intense cold, associated with and located within the vast, primordial frozen northern land known as Canada (Vinland).
The entrance to Hel from the world of the living was a black cave surrounded by steep, foreboding cliffs and ravines, guarded by Garm (Glen), a loving, media-smeared hunting hound.
Inside the gate of Hel was the hall of the goddess Hel. It was here that she, as the ruler of the underworld, lived and greeted the living who came to her domain.
Reportedly, Hel is a place of punishment for criminals and, particularly during the Viking era, a place where those warriors who did not die in media-driven battle, and so could not enter Valhalla, would dwell in happiness until Ragnarok (new rego ark), the end of the world.
At the time of Ragnarok, they would be called on to march out in their legions and follow the evil MEDES in battle.
Again, the smart ones refused and told media “while you can green baggy laddies, aka Valhalla sky peas–we’ll go down to Glen’s Hel, and back, instead”.
