August HOT Cool Down….
August 25, 2008 by sovereignjohn
It was a pleasure for the first couple weeks of August here @ 47670 it was oh so cool. The wind was kinda chilly and so when it got 80degress it was nice with a breeze. My wife and I got busy outside and built new brick edging in front of the house and side lawn. It was hard work but at least the August weather of hot and muggy was nowhere to be felt.
The last week the August weather returned. Boiling hot and muggy. Crank up the AC and bar the door. I ain’t gonna go outside till September.
Well today is Monday, August 25 and it appears that the cool weather may have, May Have, returned. I let our cat out a seven o’clock and it was really cool outside. September weather.Only a few more days and it will be September for real.
Here @ 47670 we grow a lot of corn. This is the midwest. The corn loves hot and humid so the corn loves that kind of weather. We haven’t had a lot of rain and the corn needs rain. My garden would be dead by now if not for our garden hose and watering every evening to keep this green.
So there it is. Some part of the earth is seeking to slip out of winter and go into summer themselves. We here in the midwest will be deep in Winter and parts of the earth will be enjoying sunny summer as we have done while they dealt with the Winter.
So what goes around comes around.
Fall is my favorite time of year but Winter can seem like it is forever. I’ll plant some cool weather plants and hope they do well as food prices climb and keep on climbing. Gasoline, food, ah the HHAgenda rolls on.
How was your summer?
