Review of the year..
Inevitably as Christmas approaches we all indulge in a bit of restrospective gazing and as I started to do this I realised what a fantastic year this has been for me!
As a consultant helping people with technology in education I have been incredibly busy and have thoroughly enjoyed all the projects on which I have worked. If anyone is intersted in seeing some of the stuff we have done you can check in out at my website: www.caryloliver.com and select the Learning Solutions button.
I have produced hundreds of toons that have reflected my mood and thoughts through the year. Interestingly, when you look at them all together I can see that I have been pretty happy for most of the year as the toons do reflect the silly side of me which comes to the front when I am not stressed. I have had lots of editor picks and even won the competition one month with my Tourism B&A toon!
I have had to deal with some nasty attacks from some very stupid people coming into toondoo but I have also enjoyed some great support from a much larger number of toondooers as well getting a good laugh, smile and wise nod from their great work.
My biggest effort this year has been in my return to Fencing, the sport I did for about 20 years when I was young, then spent 15 years away from it growing a stomach!! I started back in training just after last Christmas as a Veteran and have competed in 3 National Competitions, State Events and represented Australia at the World Championships. So within a year of coming back to the sport I am State Champion, National Champion and ranked 24 in the World.
Imagine what I can do next year starting from this base???
So I am looking forward to a very restful Christmas, making sure I don’t regain too many of the kilos I have worked so hard to lose during the year, followed by a New Year filled with more work, more fencing and more success.
I wish all my toondoo friends a great festive season and a fun filled 2009.
