REgarding REdoo REsults!

Hi Dudes and Dudettes,

We know that most of you have been eagerly awaiting the results of the ReDoo contest and wondering why it has outlasted its monthly term!

Since this contest was based on the ReDoo feature and all entries had to be based on the same starting point, (a previous contest-winning toon) we wanted to wait till we received enough entries. We now have a total of 126 entries which have been evaluated by our panel of judges. Results are just in, so we won’t keep you waiting any longer…

The winner of the ReDoo contest is a prolific ToonDooer who is known not only for his many hilarious toons and but also for his unparalleled mastery over the DoodleR tool!

That’s right, we’re talking about ToonDooer nmichael, who joined us in May this year and immediately captivated many ToonDooers with his creativity and breathtaking doodles. He has now gone on to win the ReDoo contest with an amusing twist to the original toon as presented in his ReDoo.

Congrats to nmichael, on his many achievements at ToonDoo besides winning this contest!

We would also like to commend the creative twists in the following ReDoo entries which have won special mention!

Kudos to all the winners and thanks to all the other participants who made an effort in this contest!

The Tool or the hand that holds it?

It was for a reason, that we decided to not call our “drawing tool” at ToonDoo as “Painter” or “Artpad” or something that sounds like we’ve built a mini-photoshop for you..

We wanted you to just “doodle” in a few “finishing touches”, and for that reason, we provided a basic minimum of tools, and even named the tool quite humbly as “The DoodleR”.

But, looking at the creative variety and sheer quality of some of the stuff you guys have come up with, we are just flabbergasted.

Just goes to prove, I guess, that it is the hand that holds the tool that is much much more important than the tool itself.

After all, Vishwanathan Anand plays in the same sixty-four squares!

Recently, I bumped into this wonderful Youtube Video that just proved the same point again.

Lowly MSPaint, that default drawing tool from Microsoft, which has probably remained unchanged in feature set for nearly fifteen years now, can be used to create even the quintessential “most famous painting of them all”, La Gioconda, the Mona Lisa!

See:-

Looking for more inspiration? Just fire up the ToonDoo search, and look for some amazing work from toonscribbles, indian_blues, nmichael and cmk100, not to mention scores of other pixelpainters!

He, who spins the funniest tale, wins this contest!

Hi Dudes and Dudettes,

We’re very excited to announce the results of the Funny Tails contest…

The winner is an avid ToonDooer, known for his unique creative style, love of the Jambav character and Olympic toon collection. I’m sure you must have guessed it by now, but just in case you haven’t, it’s none other than ToonDooer bernd!

A childhood picture of ToonDooer bernd

That’s right, ToonDooer bernd, who joined us in November last year and dazzled us with his brilliant toons, has now won last month’s animal humour themed contest!

Here is the toon, ‘The year of the Rat‘ that won him the contest…

However, the contest win is just icing on the cake. In about 10 months of ToonDooing, bernd has already received a whopping 160 editor picks, 614 cheers and 1507 comments on his toons! And if that wasn’t enough, he went on to win the contest!

Read about what bernd had to say about himself, about ToonDoo and about winning the contest. All that and more, in this toonbook below…

And that’s not all folks! We’ve also awarded special mentions to 4 ToonDooers for commendable creativity shown in the following contest entries by them…

Congrats to all the winners, and thanks to everyone else for participating!

Have fun ToonDooing and ReDooing (especially keeping in mind the theme of the new contest at ToonDoo!)

The Toing of Plash!

In recent times, there have been a lot of wonderful (if cliched!) cartoon strips from Plash about day-to-day inanities in home and school life.

And, they all end with a quintessential, inimitable “Toing”…

When I asked him what exactly it was, he responded with a typical mimicked Sound Effect. :-) For Plash, it is almost a personal MacGuffin, something that he uses with great effect, to punch home a point. In situations like this, the best response is sometimes silence, and as silence is difficult to depict in a ToonDoo, he resorts to a LOUD silence, indicated by this Toing!

But, for all those around the world who are deprived of this aural experience, here is something that takes you pretty close.

Watch each of these ToonDoos, and when you reach the last frame, the one with the punch-line that says “Toing”, hit the Play Toing button that sits right underneath it…
Enjoy!

And, finally, Mr. Toing himself, in a very beautifully drawn lace curtain, caught unawares while in his bathroom perhaps!

Way to go, Plash! Doo More!!

Same Crowd! Two Demands!!

Rkrekha and Indian_Blues, both smart ToonDooers who have won many accolades, posted amazingly similar photographs of a street-blocking crowd cheering for a cause!

While Rekha captured the crowd demanding that there be a rkrekha-ToonDoo on the homepage of www.toondoo.com, Indian_Blues was delirious to see the crowd rooting for a CEO position for IB, no less!

See below, ToonDoos made by them, using the photo-upload feature!

So, you tell me folks, which crowd would YOU be joining, if you were given the chance?! :-)

Psssst:- If you want the same crowd to say something else that you feel like saying, “I love you, Radha”, for example, visit http://www.lintukoto.net/viihde/mielenosoitus/kuva.php?teksti=type your text and type your required text in the URL (replacing “type your text”)…
